Binding & Exterior
The Bible retains its original period brown leather binding with a handsome glossy patina developed naturally over its long history. Distinct horizontal rule lines decorate the spine.
The covers remain attached and structurally intact, with expected surface scuffing and light rubbing along the edges and corners. A minor crack is visible in the leather along the front joint where the cover flexes open.
Interior & Condition
The internal text block is 100% complete, extending from the main 1793 title page through the Old Testament and New Testament and continuing to the Metrical Psalms at the rear.
The pages are generally flat, crisp, and robust for their age. Light, expected foxing appears on the opening pages. Toward the end of the Old Testament, a small localized group of pages displays heavier natural yellow toning.
A few light stray stains are scattered throughout the text, along with several minor dog-eared corner folds. There is no water damage, structural tearing, or text loss.
Overall, this is a good, complete example of an 18th-century Scottish King James Bible, retaining its original period binding and complete interior.
A Piece of Scottish Biblical History
Printed in Edinburgh during the Georgian era, this Bible provides a tangible connection to Scotland's long tradition of Bible printing and private devotional use. Its survival in complete form, together with the accompanying Metrical Psalms, makes it an appealing addition to a collection focused on early Scottish printing, historic Bibles, or the development of English-language Scripture.
