1573 Bishops’ Bible Quarto Leaf — The Book of Revelation, Chapters 7–9
An authentic 16th-century leaf from the 1573 Bishops’ Bible, printed in London by Richard Jugge, official printer to Queen Elizabeth I. This genuine quarto leaf preserves a remarkable portion of the Book of Revelation, featuring the distinctive Blackletter typography and traditional marginal reference notes characteristic of English Bibles of the period.
The leaf contains portions of Revelation Chapters 7, 8, and 9, including the account of those who came through the great tribulation, the moving promise that God will wipe away every tear, the opening of the Seventh Seal, and the dramatic judgments associated with the trumpet-bearing angels.
More than four centuries old, the leaf offers a tangible connection to one of the most important periods in the development of the English Bible.

Condition & Preservation Report
Edge & Margin Profile:
The outer right margin displays an authentic, non-parallel taper that gradually narrows toward the upper portion of the leaf. This irregular profile is consistent with the physical characteristics found in hand-trimmed leaves from early printed books.
Corner Wear:
The upper-right corner has two small areas of historic paper loss—a minor notch at the tip and a shallow indentation immediately below it. The lower-left corner is softly rounded and has a small edge nick. The affected areas exhibit naturally darkened edges consistent with age and handling.
Paper Patina:
The handmade linen-rag paper displays a gentle, even yellowing associated with its age, along with a couple of small localized handling stains.
Text Integrity:
The printed Blackletter text, chapter headings, page numbers, and marginal reference notes remain intact, crisp, and fully legible.
Display & Presentation
At approximately 6" × 8", this quarto leaf is particularly well suited to archival or floating-glass presentation. Displaying the leaf between two panes of glass allows both sides of the original page to remain visible while providing protection for its historic paper and edges.
The leaf may be especially meaningful when displayed in a study, library, private collection, or place of worship, where its original typography and preserved scriptural text can be appreciated from both sides.
